Rising Stars defeated Horizon To Take Twenty20 Division IB Championship

On a very cold and windy Sunday at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, Rising Stars take on Horizon in the NYSCL 2018 Twenty20 division IB final. Horizon came into the game as the favorite to win Rising Stars was the underdog both teams head into the final undefeated.  Horizon won the toss and choose to bat first; Rising Stars bowlers were on and off in the first half but still manage to hold Horizon to 62-1 at the half-time.


Coming out in the second half of Horizon innings, Rising Stars bowlers was picking up the wickets easily and bowled out horizon for 121. Peter Sookdeo was the leading bowler for Rising Stars to finish with figures of 3 for 23, Terry Hardial and Gookarran Dially claimed 2 wickets each and, Krishanand Narine took 1 wicket.


Rising stars began their chase with Romel Persaud and Ravindra Singh (Kevin) opening the batting both batsmen were batting well and then they lost the wicket of Romel also losing 2 more quick wickets. Joining Ravindra Singh (Kevin) was the veteran big man Peter Sookdeo the two batsmen batted patiently until the half-time with the score on 53-3.


Rising Stars needed 69 runs from 10 overs with 7 wickets in hand as Peter and Ravindra made their way to the crease to begin the second half of their innings. Both batsmen were batting aggressive and stroked some boundaries very easily then the fall of Ravindra Singh wicket.


Peter Sookdeo was batting well even though wickets were falling easily at the other end he stayed there and batted through to the end. Unfortunately, he fell when Rising Stars needed 3 more runs for victory. He made a well-played and valuable 53 runs for his team Rising Stars and steered them to their second championship for the 2018 season.


It was a very successful season for Rising Stars cricket team winning two championships out of 3 for the year. Rising Stars beat Renegade and Advance to Semi-Final

On a beautiful day for cricket, Rising Stars taking on Renegade in the NYSCL 20 Over President Cup quarter-finals. Rising Stars won the toss and put Renegade to bat first. Rising stars bowlers were mostly unplayable dominating the game from the beginning.

The first-half Renegade had 36-3. Coming into the second half of their innings Renegade struggled to find the boundaries and the pressure was on them to get runs. Rising stars restricted them to 101-9 in their 20 overs. With Nayan, Terry and Azad grabbing 2 wickets each, Sureain 1 wicket. Rising stars began their chase with Romel Persaud and Anup Mangar opening the batting, both batsmen were finding boundaries easily before Romel Persaud fell for 10 runs.

Joining Anup was Azad Azeez a destructive left-hand batsman, he and Anup started hitting the ball to all part of the ground. The boundaries were flowing easily then the partnership was broken when Anup was bowled for a well-played 24 runs.

Next batsman was Nayan Rudra who joined Azad at the crease and got the job done Azad Azeez made 49 not out including 6 Sixes and 1 four Nayan 8 not out, well-done fellas.
