Vikings defeated Crown XI on Sunday, June 17, 2017, in the NYSCL President Cup Division IIB final. Vikings won the toss and decided to take the field. The opening batsman for Crown XI Raymond Williams being an outstanding and informed batsman. He started with a single and then a four trying to put a huge score on the board for his side. But was soon bowled for five runs by Rishi Baldeo. The first wicket fell for 9 runs and shortly after 2 more wickets were dismissed for 13 runs.
The Vikings team lead by their captain Shawn Chedilall applied the pressure on the opposing team and contained the batsmen to a very low score. At half time Crown XI was facing the hardship to put on a decent score and was down 5 wickets for 25 runs. The Vikings executed their plans effectively. Their aims and intention were to restrict the Crown XI team for less than 50 runs which would make it an easy win for them.
Resuming the next half, Vikings failed to execute their game plan to contain the opposing team to a low score. Drop catches, run out and misfielding were part of their demise. Faraz Ali and Shafeek Ali came in the crease with their own plan. They started attacking the Vikings bowlers and targeted the boundaries with sixes and fours and were able to build a solid partnership. Viking's all-rounder Kevin Bajnauth, break the partnership by dismissing Shafeek Ali for 26 runs.
Meanwhile, Faraz Ali who batted for a while came not out with 17 runs. The Crown XI team eventually managed to pile up 94 runs losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Subryan Armogan was not out with 32 runs. Vick Ramnarine came in after Vikings lost 2 more quick wickets and repaired the damaged.
