Experience and strategy are vital in the complex game of cricket, as veterans Albert Baldeo and Rabin Singh took Unity to the cleaners in a match winning partnership of 111 runs. Batting first, Wildfire made a challenging 178 for 6 wickets, with Albert Baldeo top scoring with an entertaining 75, consisting of 5 sixes and 6 fours as he struck Unity's bowling attack to all parts of the ground with some trademark cover drives and pulls mixed with impeccable defense.
Rabin Singh and Jerry Joseph made 21 each. Unity's exasperated bowlers, led by veteran Vibert "Chamar" Mc Lennon, bowled hard, but Wildfire's batting, led by Baldeo, who was too much for them. Only Vibert Mc Lennon escaped the barrage of strokes, as he bowled tightly for 19 runs in 5 overs.
Unity's batsmen seemed overwhelmed by the target, and Wildfire's bowlers cleaned them up for 59 all out. Only V. Singh and Mc Lennon reached double figures, as Jerry Joseph and Vivendra Singh sent them packing with some blistering pace and yorker. We are going all the way to win this competition, a delighted manager, J.P. Singh said.
