June 20, 2012
It was a nice sunny Fathers Day and Ozone XI fathers came out with their family hoping to register their first win of the NYSCL 2012 30 Over Cup competitions and leave a statement for the loss that
prevented them from advancing to the semi final three weeks ago. Ozone XI won the toss and chose to bat. Charlie and M. Ali open the batting and Anil opening the bowling for Superstars.
In the first over 9 runs came off while in the second over Andy started to bowled to Charlie who give an indication of that damages that he is capable of. Consecutive boundaries off the first two balls and then Andy captain talk into him to bowl better in the second. Ever thing is going good till the 8 over where M. Ali was caught brilliantly for 12 after a 62 run partnership with Charlie. Now Imran Hassan went in to bat. At the 10 over the score were 84 then they bringing in a new bowler name Krishna to bowl to Charlie in the 11 over.
It was first a full toss to Charlie that disappear into the trees, then another that went into the streets, then another over the fences and it continues to disappear until it was 6 sixes in the over. Tremendous achievement by Charlie and he continues to send balls speeding to the boundary at regular intervals. In the process he reached his 50.Charlie hit 6 sixes in one over and finishes Krishna bowling for the match and probably his career as a bowler.
In the 11 over the score jumped from 84 to 120, Charlie and I. Hassan put on another 70 runs partnership, and then Amit comes on and I. Hassan was run out. By half time the score was 149 for 2. Charlie is on 98 and looking forward to some fluid to help and gain energy to punish the Superstars further but that was not the case as the first ball of the 16 over Charlie get caught trying to clear the bowler head.
It was now up to D. Singh and Navin who put on a 27 runs partnership. The score was now 186 and Navin followed in the twenty second over D. Singh fall for 34 runs. Sanjay and Y. Singh then keep on playing shots and rotating the strike taking the score from 207 for 6 to 256 for 6, by producing a 49 runs partnership before Sanjay was stumped running up to hit the ball.
In the end of the 30 overs Ozone XI made 259 for 9.This is a tough chase for the Superstars but they got off to a horrible start and were having a difficult time keeping up with the run rate as wickets were tumbling at regular intervals. Now it was Ozone XI time to bowl in the first over D. Singh strike 2 times removing both openers. The score in the first over was 3 run 2 wickets. M. Singh and Andy were batting they took the score to 87 until Nar strikes having M. Singh caught and in the next over M. Khan takes 2 wickets with the second and the 5 ball of the over the score is now 97 for 6.
At half time the score is 113 for 6 in the 18.4 overs the game was over. Ozone XI bowled out Superstars for 142. Ozone XI top bowlers were; D. Singh 5-0-27-1, Sanjay 6-0-34-1, M. Khan 5-32-0-2 and Y. Singh 1.4-0-14-2. It was a wonderful game of cricket that ended with the fathers of each team thanking each other and sharing good wishes for Father’s Day. But for Ozone XI fathers it was that special entertainment from Charlie and the victory that made this a spectacular one.
Ozone XI Super Performance Knockout Superstars

The beautiful weather was a pleasant welcome for Mother’s Day and the mothers of the Ozone XI family was presented with a victory to smile about on their special day.
It all started with Superstars winning the toss and electing to bat. Under good batting condition they started with good intent with their opening batsman punishing anything loose until the host Ozone XI strike in the fifth over due to a superb piece of bowling from Sanjay. What follow was slow progress and pressure building all due to the tight line and length employed by Ozone XI bowlers.
Then the partnership between Elvis and Prem was getting too dangerous so something special had to happen. Prem was run out in questionable circumstance for 25 leaving Elvis alone resisting and soon departed for 45. Some late flourish of boundaries eventually take them to a total 198 in 25 overs. There were two wicket apiece for M. Khan, Sanjay, Y. Singh and Mario who was most economical with 24 runs from his 5 over’s.
This total cannot be that challenging for Ozone XI due to their powerful batting line up. They responded with Charlie in a mood that brought him a century last week, He was brutal in scoring 36 from 10 balls while his partner M. Ali played the supporting role Charlie went and then there was a period of steady accumulation of runs by Imran and M. Ali until the innings water break and the score was 123.
After the break, Imran went caught at the boundary line for a well played 38. Wicket fell at regular interval whiles the captain M. Ali continue to fight on, reaching his first half century of the season .He would continue until the end for an unbeaten 65. Some vital contribution also came from Y. Singh with 20 and Sanjay 16. Elvis was the chief wicket taker for Superstars with two wickets.
The match had a little anti climax towards the end with 30 required from 3 over but the batsman did it with one over remaining for another Ozone XI victory and thereby ensuring that their unbeaten streak remain intact.
